How Pipeline Vibration Affects Vortex Flow Meters
Vortex flow meter is a quite common flow monitoring device since it can accommodate liquids, gasses, steam and corrosive applications. While in the actual installation and use, we should pay attention to the vibration which may affect the measurement and cause it to falsely generate a vortex signal, or to incorrectly read an existing vortex.
How pipeline vibration affects vortex flow meters?
1. The instrument coefficient error of the vortex flow meter increases with the increase of the pipeline vibration acceleration, and the overall seismic resistance is poor.
2. Under the same pipeline vibration acceleration condition, no matter how the vibration frequency changes, the instrument coefficient error of the vortex flow meter decreases with the increase of the flow rate, and it receives the greatest effect by the pipeline vibration under the small flow rate.
3. Under the condition of the same pipeline vibration acceleration, its coefficient error decreases with the increase of the pipeline vibration frequency.
4. Compared with the vertical direction, the horizontal pipeline vibration direction brings smaller error of instrument coefficient, and the shock resistance is better.
Therefore, we generally recommend vortex flow meters should be installed at a place where there is no pipeline vibration.
