How to Choose Right Electromagnetic Flowmeters?
Actually, electromagnetic flowmeters can measure the flow rate of conductive medium, like such most fluids as water, waste water, corrosive liquid, pulp, mud, some acid and alkaline solutions. Different liners are available for different medium to be measure, like soft rubber, hard rubber, neophene, polyrethane or PTFE. So firstly, we decide the flow meter according to the medium. The materials that we recommend the most, for water and wastewater applications, are going to be soft rubbers, which has good flexibility, corrosion-resistance; for ordinary acid, alkaline or saline solutions, we recommend ebonite liner to measure water, waste water, pulp or mud, we recommend neophene, which has better flexibility and corrosion-resistance than soft rubber for pulp containing stones, liner made of polyrethane is the best solution and we also have PTFE liner, which can be used to measure acid, alkaline or saline solutions with higer concentration or in sanitary application. The price of different liner varies. The price of these 5 materials gets higher and higher in order, while as all of these five have drinking water approvals, so if to measure water, the first 3 are relatively low cost, you don’t have high levels of chemical compatibility that you have to worry about, there is no reason that you can’t go with the relatively low cost and economical design.
Choosing the RIGHT electrode for an electromagnetic flowmeter is also important, as it also decides the price and application. Usually stainless steel or hastelloy is mostly used. The former one, usually for general purpose but is not suitable for strong acids and alkalis, not recommended for salt water and brine. For hastelloy, it has good all-round corrosion resistance, higher resistance to locallized corrosion, which is superior to stainless steel.
No matter the price of electromagnetic flowmeter is low or high, choose the most suitable one according to the application. For example, if we use it for city sewage, we generally recommend rubber liner and stainless steel electrode considering the price.
